Origin of Devotion to Maa Umiya:

Maa Umiya is worshipped as the Kuldevi (family deity) of the Kadva Patidar community, one of the major Patidar subgroups in Gujarat. The original Umiya Mata Temple is located in Unjha, Mehsana district of North Gujarat. As Kadva Patidar families migrated to different parts of Gujarat, especially to industrial cities like Surat, the need for a local temple emerged to continue their traditions and rituals close to home.

• The idea of establishing Umiyadham in Surat was initiated by prominent community leaders and devotees residing in Varachha, an area with a high population of Kadva Patidars.
• The project was undertaken under the guidance of Shree Umiya Mataji Sansthan Trust, formed to manage the temple’s affairs and community activities.
• The foundation stone was laid with religious rituals and blessings from saints and leaders, and construction began with donations from the local community and philanthropists.

🧱 Construction & Inauguration:

• The temple was constructed with traditional Hindu architecture, involving skilled artisans and architects.
• The idol of Maa Umiya was carefully crafted and installed through a Pran Pratistha ceremony, marking the divine presence of the goddess in the temple.
• Upon completion, the inauguration was held with grandeur, involving large-scale Yagnas, Bhajan Sandhyas, Garba nights, and community feasts.
