About

Shree Siddhnath Mahadev Mandir, located in Saras village, Olpad Taluka, near Surat, Gujarat, is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is believed to have a rich historical and mythological significance, attracting devotees from across the region, particularly during Shravan month, Maha Shivratri, and Mondays.

Siddhanatha Mahadev's supernatural story

Shri Siddhanatha Mahadev Temple is located near Sarsa village. Once, robbers came after seeing the temple of Siddhanatha. The robbers thought that there would be gold, silver, treasures, etc. under the Shivling of the temple built by the king. Therefore, the robbers thought that there would be gold, silver, treasures, etc. under the Shivling of the temple built by the king. Therefore, the robbers stepped on various Shivlings with a crowbar and an axe and wounded them. Due to which, God appeared in the form of countless scaly bumblebees from the wounds of the Shivling, which angered the robbers and bit them. The Pindhara and the robbers ran away from there. They became blind due to being bitten in the eyes out of anger. Then they licked the dust and begged for forgiveness so that the bumblebees disappeared. Thus, the Shivling was shattered. To maintain the importance and sanctity of this linga, Shivaji revealed the hidden Ganga from this Shivlinga, which continues to flow even today.

Inside this hill was the Shivlinga of Siddhanatha Mahadev, there was a continuous stream of milk from the cow flowing on the Shivlinga, another incident was that there was an ashram of Gokarna Muni, he had a vision of Shivlinga in his dream, due to his penance, Shivlinga appeared spontaneously, God gave him a real vision, so when Gokarna Muni's wish was fulfilled, he named this Shivlinga as the Uplinga of Tryambakeshwar among the twelve Jyotirlingas and established Siddhanatha Mahadev on the day of Magashar Sud Agiyaras (Gita Jayanti). According to verse number 175 of chapter 71 of the Tapi Purana, there is no other linga better than Siddhanatha Mahadev. According to verse 176, by seeing Siddhanath Mahadev, who is worshipped by Shri Ramchandraji in the sun of Capricorn, and by bathing in Ramkund, no human being experiences the pain of womb-dwelling.

According to the Ramayana, Ravana was a Brahmin king of Lanka. After killing Ravana, he felt the guilt of killing a Brahmin. Lord Ram performed a yagna here to get rid of it.

There is a lamp to light 251 lamps in the Siddhanath Mahadev complex, Hanumanji temple in the north, Kedareshwar Mahadev in the south, as well as a Dharamshala and a living samadhi, and outside the temple complex, Banganga well, Ramkund and the samadhi of Gokarna Muni can be seen.

The construction of Shri Siddhanath Mahadev was undertaken from 1795 and completed in 1803 by Damaji Pilaji Gaekwad. A dharamshala was built around this temple from the wood pulled from the railway tracks, which can still be seen today.

A two-day fair is held here on the day of Magashar Sud Agiyaras (Gita Jayanti). In the morning, the Shivling is seen. At night, a great puja is performed and the turban is seen. The next day in the morning, lotuses made of ghee are offered on the Shivling. It is seen. Thousands of people come to have darshan. Bhajans and kirtans are performed all day on this day.
